New programmes (Guide)

Last updated:

The guide describes how the education institution must document that the new programme to be accredited lives up to the criteria. It also describes the process of applying for accreditation of new programmes and local provision of programmes and contains a number of templates that the institution can use in its written application.

In March 2015, the guide to accreditation of new programmes and local provision of programmes was adjusted. This involved a number of minor adjustments and changes to the questions in criterion 2 for vocational programmes.

See current guides and supplementary documents below.

The Advisory Committee for assessment of higher education programmes (RUVU) receives and processes applications for prequalification of new programmes and local provision of programmes twice a year. The education institution must inform the Danish Accreditation Institution about when it wishes to commence a programme accreditation when the institution submits its application for prequalification.

There is a deadline for applying for accreditation of new programmes and local provision of programmes three times a year.

  • 1 February at 12 noon
  • 15 May at 12 noon
  • 1 October at 12 noon

Applications submitted by the deadline in February will typically be processed at the Accreditation Council meeting in October of the same year. Applications submitted by the deadlines in May or October will typically be processed at the Accreditation Council meetings in March or June of the following year.

Deadlines for application for prequalification and information about the process are available on the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science’s website.

Apply for accreditation of a new programme
Application for accreditation of a new programme or new local provision of a programme takes place via an application module. In the application module, the education institution can create an application and provide various data. A report, appendices and a cover letter must also be uploaded.

The application module gathers all files and data in one single application that is converted to a PDF. See a more detailed description of requirements for application and appendices in the guide.
